Our new Temple of Fine Arts

The Temple of Fine Arts is located right in the centre of the crescent-shaped Jalan Berhala in Brickfields. It sits on the banks of the Klang River and faces the 100 year old Buddhist Mahavihara.

The 5-storey building was designed with the growing needs of the institution. Dance studios, music rooms, a spacious rehearsal hall, a 500 seater performance hall, a library and a cafeteria make up the main areas of activity.

The amenities are enhanced by areas of administration, public usage, technical support, and on the ground floor, the projects of Annalakshmi Restaurant, Lavanya Arts and Hamsa-Vahini Travel & Tours. Also housed within the building is our own design and communications facility Hansa Communications.

Raising Funds to equip Temple of Fine Arts

Our building project had begun in 1991 when Swamiji mooted the idea of acquiring the land on which the institution was functioning. With consistent fundraising efforts and the generosity of the public and art supporting corporations, we completed all payments on the RM1.2 million bank loan.

The second phase of our building project kicked off in 2004 - with the goal of raising RM11 million for the construction of the 5-storey building.

The Temple of Fine Arts now has well appointed dance and music studios - sprung floors air-conditioning, wall-to-wall mirrors - all designed to create a comfortable ambience for the learning of dance and music. A library with wireless internet facilities and multimedia stations for the research of dance and music is stocked with books and reading material pertinent to the subjects taught here.

The last major phase of the building is the performance hall - Shantanand Auditorium - which occupies the second and third floors. Visit our auditorium website to book the venue for your special event or email us at shantanand.auditorium@gmail.com.
